Sony Bought IP Rights to Snoopy

Sony recently announced that its music subsidiary 'Sony Music Entertainment' will acquire 39% of the shares of “Peanuts” the copyrighted American company that includes figures such as Snoopy and Charlie Brown. The cost for acquiring the 39% stake is $185 million USD. Sony commented that as a stake holders of the world renowned “Peanuts”, they aim to expand their intellectual property business related to Peanuts.

Peanuts started as a syndicated comic strip in the United States and spread to 75 countries throughout the world. Since then several books have been published and a movie came out in 2015 featuring the characters.
