Japan Patent Office Established a Regional Office in Osaka

In July the Japan Patent Office (JPO) established a regional office for the National Center for Industrial Property Information and Training (INPIT), an agency which is under the jurisdiction of the JPO, in which INPIT started operating in Osaka for the first time.
Starting in August, patent examiners began conducting interviews in the Osaka location, and many companies and universities in the Osaka area have already scheduled interviews.
The Osaka INPIT office also will give advice about corporate support, such as IP management measures or trade secret management in anticipation of business developments overseas.

Also, a “Traveling Patent Office” is being held in Osaka for one month. During this event, seminars of the JPO’s search system called “J-PlatPat” and forums related to the theme of intellectual property are being held.

Osaka has many small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as universities and company research institutes. The JPO hopes that this project will deepen collaborations between small and medium-sized enterprises, universities and research institutes in the intellectual property field.
