BIOGRAPHYMikiko KITAJIMA has majored in Danish at Osaka University of Foreign Studies (currently Osaka University). Upon finishing the university, she had English language training in the United Kingdom for one year.
She worked for several companies and patent attorneys offices in Tokyo and Osaka. She deepened her knowledge in life and human sciences at The Open University of Japan and in biology and chemistry at Yokohama National University. She passed the patent attorney examination in 2010 and was registered as a patent attorney.
At the patent attorneys offices, she started as a secretary for clerical work for domestic and foreign applications of patents, utility models, designs and trademarks. Subsequently, she has been working as a translator and a proofreader of patent documents from English to Japanese and vice versa. She has experience in translating especially in machinery, electricity, chemistry and biology. For good and accurate translation, she carefully reads original texts while thinking about the intentions and thoughts of the authors. She will continue her efforts for better knowledge and understanding of intellectual property rights in each country.
PRACTICE AREASMs. Kitajima is a certified patent attorney who specializes in affairs related to Intellectual Property rights. She has done work in the areas of prosecution, prior art searches, appeals and litigation related to patents.
