Toshihiro OHISHI

BIOGRAPHYToshihiro OHISHI is a registered patent attorney in Japan. Upon completion of his study at the Graduate School of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology, he joined Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. and worked at the Yokohama Research Laboratory (currently the Optical Communications Laboratory), where he was involved in the development of dispersion-shifted fibers.
Afterward, Mr. Ohishi started working at the Japan Patent Office (JPO) as a patent examiner for optical fiber-related patents in Patent Examination Division 1, Optical Devices. He then worked as a patent attorney at Sakamoto & Partners.
He later joined SEC Corporation and was involved in the development of microwave plasma technology, high-frequency atmospheric pressure plasma technology, and molten salt electrolysis technology.
He has gained valuable experience as an inventor in research and development at the companies and as a patent examiner in determining patentability at the JPO. Through his work as a patent attorney, he has also developed skills in eliciting the gist of inventions from inventors and drafting specifications that reflect the inventors’ intent, leading to the grant of patent rights.
He draws on his experience not only as an inventor but also as a patent examiner to understand the technology of inventions and to provide his clients with full support from patenting the technology to properly protecting that technology with patent rights.
