BIOGRAPHYHidehiko MORITA studied organic chemistry at Osaka Prefecture University (B.E.) and studied polymer science at the National Defense Academy of Japan (M.E.). Later, Mr. Morita also studied law at the University of Tsukuba’s Law School (J.D.).

In 2005, Mr. Morita passed the Japanese patent attorney examination and was registered as a patent attorney in Japan.

After graduating from Osaka Prefecture University, Mr. Morita joined the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) where he worked as an officer engaged in training work such as operations related to chemical weapons for approximately 5 years.

Following his time at the JGSDF, Mr. Morita began working as a patent attorney and worked for Japanese patent firms and a law firm. Mr. Morita has a lot of experience with filing domestic and foreign patent applications particularly those related to the chemical field. In 2008, Mr. Morita also participated in the Summer Training Program at Birch, Stewart, Kolasch & Birch, LLP (U.S.).

In addition to patent prosecution work, Mr. Morita has significant experience with the preparation of expert opinions on infringement patent validity. Furthermore, he has experience related to disputes such as with warning letters, invalidation trials, and Japanese patent litigation.

Mr. Morita strives to listen to and meet the needs of his clients and zealously represents his clients to help them obtain, develop, and protect their intellectual properties rights in line with their business objectives.

PRACTICE AREASMr. Morita is a certified patent attorney who specializes in affairs related to Intellectual Property rights. He has done work in the areas of prosecution, prior art searches, expert opinions, appeals and litigation related to patents, and designs particularly in the areas related to chemistry such as organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry, metal chemistry, food chemistry, electronics materials, optical materials, performance materials, batteries, fuel, water treatments, and fibers.
